Selenite forms in large, thin, flat, transparent sheets that are platelike in appearance and is increasingly rare to find. Satin Spar, which has widely been known as 'selenite' (again, they have the same mineral composition!) is formed in long, lustrous fibers and can be found in abundance around the globe.
